La Musique

As I sketched out our initial budget it became apparent we were going to have to scale it back a bit. Mr. T suggested doing our own music on an iPod, an idea that I'm warming up to. I love music and used to spend hours making my own mixed tapes...ah, cassettes.

I ran across this idea, I think on the Offbeat Bride blog, again (love that site):

What a great way to compile a list! And this way I can make certain we'll have an array of music to get everyone dancing.

I'm brainstorming Halloween-ish songs to put in the mix, like:
Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo
Thriller by Michael Jackson
Monster Mash (not sure about that one, but it keeps popping into my head, unfortunately)
Every day is Halloween by Ministry (possibly for later in the evening...don't want to scare the families too much)
Pet Sematary by the Ramones

Any suggestions?

Love the new site, Beth! I'm glad you're enjoying the planning process.

Friends of ours ended up using the Ipod/laptop setup for their wedding reception when their band flaked at the last minute, and ended up loving it (and saving a lot of money).

How about "Cemetery Gates" by the Smiths, or "Dancing at the Zombie Zoo" by Tom Petty?

Cheers,

We also did the laptop thing - Erik composed two mixes - a classical one for the eating (which actually got played about 3 times as we'd underestimated how long that would take!) and a modern one for after you guys. I also suggest music making fun of love for the mix. We had Masochism Tango by Tom Lehrer, Tainted Love by Soft Cell, etc.

Just make sure your bellydancers' CD works in your laptop!
