Here's a link for a bit of history of the gem

http://palagems.com/alexandrite_russia.htm

-OliviaLiv Delgadohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17787899133208987143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449481682688121010.post-19597705093609091622008-03-12T21:53:00.000-07:002008-03-12T21:53:00.000-07:00That's what one of my codancers says re: diamonds....That's what one of my codancers says re: diamonds...so sparkly! She likes having one now, but hadn't thought too much about it before.
I think sapphires were actually more traditional for engagement rings, until the diamond industry campaigned to change that. I love sapphires, so that thought appeals to me. Also, sapphires are very durable, unlike emeralds or pearls (too soft).
So many choices! :-)Bellybeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12898007189870447318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449481682688121010.post-85380231929503820872008-03-12T19:53:00.000-07:002008-03-12T19:53:00.000-07:00ya know... You mentioned the omen of opals (I have one, you remember, in my class ring . . . and never had any harm befall me, but wedding rings may be a totally different story . . .), but did you consider the symbolism of the diamond. I'm a bit sappy, but I'd still include them even if just as a side-stone.NiColehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01213493679667962725noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449481682688121010.post-69886742144090723692008-03-12T18:23:00.000-07:002008-03-12T18:23:00.000-07:00oooh, some lovely rings here.
